I started Next to Me Studios and began photographing weddings, families, and couples in 2011 immediately after marrying the love of my life. For 10 years I had worked as a graphic designer and photographer at a local San Diego branding agency, but together my wife and I found joy in beautifully capturing moments of our life and those of our friends and family. I soon realized I wanted to share my gift with more people than just our close circles.
Admittedly, writing about myself is hard. I’d much rather just get together and swap stories, but here is a little more about me:
Marrying my wife Jordan was one of the best decisions of my life. We’re complete opposites in so many ways, but somehow beautifully balance each other out while keeping life interesting. We have a son named Lincoln and a young daughter named Sutton, who are the light of our lives. He’s strong-willed, curious, and has to always be in the middle of the action. She’s easy-going, cuddly, and also wants to be in the middle of the action. We have two cats, Jack and Sawyer, who are borderline too affectionate and have to be wherever we are. I hate going to sleep and I hate waking up. I love craft beer, and really most drinks that you brew, mix or shake into existence. Music fascinates me and experiencing it live never ceases to leave me inspired or refreshed in a way that I can never express in words. I’m a techy and a bit of a nerd. I love playing video and board games. I can’t get enough of design and am always admiring the relationship and experience of objects on paper, a screen, or in the places and spaces we inhabit. I love architecture (and considered being one) and real estate. I’m captivated by the beauty of God’s creation and the tenderness that exists between people. Love is a powerful force and getting to capture it fills me.
